Water Sports 

Çeşme, İzmir (diving) 

Çeşme offers a clarity of water that is very rarely found and a diverse range of marine species. Dive sites include the Bedroom, a spectacular cave particularly loved by underwater photographers, and Split Rock at Eşek Island where experienced divers can go down 45 meters.

Suitable for all divers, Fener Island, located nearby the village of Ildır in İzmir’s popular holiday spot, Çeşme. Fener Island is a great spot for those seeking an underwater adventure in a colorful site that extends 18 meters below water. 

Alaçatı, İzmir (Windsurfing) 

If we were told that “Alaçatı” meant “windsurfing” in Turkish, we would believe it! Having both strong winds and suitable waves makes Alaçatı a rare surfing destination.  

There are many local and international schools here, and Alaçatı offers the best conditions for beginners. As it is a pretty closed bay, it gives you a feeling of safety if you are scared of the open sea! 

Moreover, Alaçatı is not only famous for its sea. With its stone houses, boutique hotels, lavender-scented streets, and mastic gum cookies, Alaçatı promises you fun after surfing as well.

Urla, İzmir (Kitesurfing) 

Located between İzmir city center and Çeşme, Urla is a popular destination to learn how to kitesurf! 

While the town itself is located inland, it has grown into a mini, boutique-holiday destination similar to its neighboring Alaçatı, Türkiye's windsurfing paradise. 

The kiteboarding beach is located in Gülbahçe, a good half dozen kilometers away from the town itself in an expansive marshy area that has shallow waters conducive for beginners. 

Bekili Stream, Denizli (rafting) 

Bekili Stream is one of the most beautiful rafting spots in the Aegean! It’s a rare stream where you can raft every month of the year. It has a course of approximately 9.5 km and is classified as Level 3 and 4 in difficulty. It can be completed in about two hours.

The stream also has a second rafting course of 11 km, classified as Level 1 in difficulty. Whether you are an amateur or a professional, Bekili Stream will offer you an ideal rafting course! 

Paragliding 

Driving through Anatolia gives visitors the chance of swimming in the turquoise sea of the country’s southern and western coasts, walking along beautiful and historical trials, and climbing huge mountains... Or, what about flying over Türkiye’s unmatched natural beauty and historical sites? 

The weather conditions, mountainous terrain, and turquoise coasts make Türkiye the perfect place for a paragliding vacation.

Mount Çökelez, Pamukkale/Denizli 

Mount Çökelez is 30 kilometers from Denizli city center. The jumping point is at 1,650 meters altitude. It’s possible to land right at the foot of the mountain or land at a distance of 100-180 kilometers. 

After visiting the Pamukkale travertines, Mount Çökelez is a great choose for adrenaline lovers! 

Bozdağ, İzmir 

This is İzmir’s most famous paragliding center! Located 110 km east of İzmir, Bozdağ has an altitude of 1,100 meters. 

After enjoying the sea and the sun in İzmir, following a two-hour drive, you can paraglide in Bozdağ!

EuroVelo 8: Mediterranean Route

EuroVelo 8 route, also known as the Mediterranean Route, is a 5.900 kilometers long route that passes through 11 different countries including Türkiye. Almost 500 kilometers of the overall route passes through İzmir, Türkiye‘s third largest city.
